My Pursuit of an MT Career
I always wanted to get into the medical field but didn’t know how to get started. I have lost love ones in the past and felt helpless to know that I could not do anything for them. I want to be a medical transcriptionist because it would make happy to know I was helping people but I would still have the flexible schedule that I need. I also know that this is an in demand field so if I work hard I will always have a job and a way to support my family. One the advantages of working in the MT industry are the ability to work from home and have a flexible schedule. This is important to me because I have a four month old daughter and want to be able to stay at home with her while I help support my family. I also plan on having another child in the future and would like to be able to work though my pregnancy. Another advantage to being a MT is that there is always a demand for people who work in the medical field. In this economy it is important to have training in field that will always have a demand for workers.
I am interested in medical transcriptionist training with Future MT because it offers the ability to train from home with online medical transcription courses. This is very important to me because I want to be able to spend time with my daughter and do my school work when and where I need to. I am also interested in Future MT because it offers live mentoring. The ability to ask questions, and have something explained to me if I don’t understand it, is something I know I will need. I am also looking forward to talking to experienced MTs to get advice about decision making as a MT and to learn about how the medical transcription industry works. Some key elements that I believe will contribute to my pursuit of a career as a MT is the ability to access resources through the job assistance program that Future MT offers. For instance access to resume writing techniques is a valuable tool because a resume is the first thing an employer sees and may determine whether you are even considered for the position. Transcription links and employment tips are also valuable tools I will be using in my pursuit of an MT career. I have many goals I would like to achieve, starting with getting an education in medical transcriptioning. I would like to finish my education within the next year and then begin my search for employment. I would like if I could be employed by a year and a half from now. Over the next five to ten years I want to help support my family, to learn more about the medical transcriptioning industry, and continue to gain experience as a MT. After I gain a considerable amount of experience as a medical transcriptionist and learn all I can about the MT industry I am interested in starting my own medical transcriptioning business. I believe that Future MT is the best school to help me achieve my goals.
