Groom Wedding Toast

If you genuinely forget to thank someone during your groom speech or groom toast, you may be forgiven – but to say the wrong thing entirely may lead to disaster! This is probably the one single thing that most if us dread during wedding speeches! However, luckily I have a few tips and pointers for you. Click here to learn more: Groom Toast.

Pleasing Your Bride

The worst thing you could do during your groom toasts is to start talking about your ex-girlfriend. This may sound like a no brainer, but don’t take anything for granted – there are grooms who have done it! Even if you want to compare your new wife favourably, if she’s anything like mine she will not appreciate it – My wife would certainly not approve, particularly on her wedding day, the most important day of her life!

Try to speak glowingly of your bride all the time. Try to avoid teasing jokes, this is not the right time for it. In my speech I stuck to what I knew my bride would want me to say, and it worked!

Don’t drink too much

No matter how well you might have prepared your speech (probably better than I did!) your number one worst enemy could be alcohol. Yes, we have all got drunk at some stage, so you should know exactly how verbally vunerable we are. Take my advice and steer clear of all alcohol until after your groom toasts!

A Few Other Tips

One thing that made the idea of grooms speeches stressful to me was the fact I didn’t plan ahead. And not planning ahead means being in a lot less control of what you say. Luckily there are now plenty of sources of help online for those who want even a funny wedding speech that doesn’t offend anyone.

Lastly I want to say that, no matter how well you say things, going on for too long isn’t going to go down well. Try to work on your speech so it doesn’t take an hour to deliver! Click here if you would like to learn how to write a great groom speech: Grooms Speeches.
